The Ideal CMS

If I wrote my own content management system, it would definitely...

  • Not require learning a whole new programming language
  • Have dynamic building
  • Use proper typographic glyphs and replace HTML entities out-of-the-box (a la SmartyPants/Textile)
    • The latter would need to be an option; not everyone wants to use Textile/Markup shortcuts. But automatically replacing HTML entities definitely = win.
  • Allows for intelligent crossposting (tricksy!)
  • Allows for LiveJournal crossposting (omg. -_- )

  • Weblogs
  • Forums
  • Wiki pages (replacing "normal" pages)
    • Edit history and reverting abilities for that one page
    • Set a page password for semi-open editing
    • How do you keep track of wiki pages that were deleted? :|
