Voice Controlled Game

  • Lifeline was an interesting example of one possibility of a voice controlled game, but it had serious flaws in its execution. It's not all that interesting to tell a character to do everything, from moving left to dodging to shooting. The character in Lifeline was supposed to be human, but was not at all able to think for herself.
  • What would be cool is a game in which you can help the main character through voice only, but in a more realistic way. For example, there are a ton of FPS games where the protagonist is communicating with someone over an intercom system. What if the PLAYER was the announcer aide person, instead of some AI?
  • Or maybe you could have a two-player voice controlled game, where you and another person compete to convince the AI-controlled character in making moral decisions! (One of you is an angel, the other is a devil, and you each sit on one of the character's shoulders and whisper in his ear :O)
  • OMG THE POSSIBILITIES! XD

What an excellent idea for someone's graduate thesis project. ::chuckle::

I give this idea five thumbs up!

I also like this idea, but the hardest part is the voice recognition. ie: Brain Age's inability to understand "Blue" and the specific syllables needed for Brain Age 2's voice-recognition game.

Check out Tom Clancy's EndWar when it comes out. It's supposed to be a completeley voice-controlled RTS.
